Being Different
I just watched this movie called Radio Rebel. It's an adorable movie if you get the chance to watch it. It reminded me today that being different is OK. Being anonymous on a radio station is very different than being real with the people you know in real life. Like being anonymous on a blog...
I realized today that to some extent I had forgotten why I started this blog. With all the views, and posts, and even the publicity this little blog was getting, I was forgetting the very reason I started in the first place. A place for me to be real, to write what I thought, and to let myself be heard no matter what anyone else thought. Yes, the page views have gone down, but that shouldn't stop me from writing. It's shouldn't shunt what I think. So, with that in mind, I am going to do something crazy. I'm going to start with writing down exactly what I am thinking right now. I'm thinking that instead of being afraid, I need to be brave. So, I'm going to admit something I'm terrified of saying. I'm afraid that if people saw the real me, the crazy me, I would be rejected. I put on this face of confidence, and put forward a bold face, but when it comes down to it, I'm terrified of people. Their thoughts and ideas scare me. And the thought of putting my ideas and thoughts out there scare me even more.
You know I paint, and cook, but did you also know I've actually written many poems, and short stories? I have two novels in the works, and I love to watch movies while I paint. I can't stand spiders, or snakes. I have never posted or even let anyone read most of my stuff. One of these days when I have access to my other computer, I will post one for you guys. Another odd quirk is I can play any instrument I pick up. Everything from pianos, to trumpet, to even a touch of wood winds.
What about you bloggers? What are you afraid of? What do you want to tell the world that you have never been able to say out loud. What are you different about that you are scared to show the world? Leave it for me in the comments. This is a safe place for everyone to be who they really are. We may not all be a country mouse, but we are all something. What are you? What makes you, you? Let's not let the world define us, let's let us define us. So, Cheers to us being us, online, and in the real world.
