Super Mom

Do you ever look at hollywood or even as close to home as just your facebook account and find all these moms who totally seem like they have it together. You know the perfect soccer moms with amazing kids, perfect hair, rocking little bodies who find the best deals, cook the best meals, bake like there's no tomorrow, craft/home school or whatever they call it, and, of course, always have a mostly, if not perfectly, clean house all while making a mini van look sexy in pictures on facebook? They hike, bike, take pictures on the beach or in the mountains, and don't forget somehow manage to never break a sweat and look model perfect while doing it. We tend to call these women "super moms." Yeah, we all know someone who could fit that category. I am soooo not one of these moms. I'm the mom with a disaster of a house (no matter how hard I try to keep it clean), crazy little daughter that's fearless enough to punch out a boy twice her size if he makes her mad, a husb...

Domino's and Sound Castle

Today has been a rather trying day to be sure. One where it takes everything I have just to survive the day. Not live, just survive. So you can imagine that by the time my sweet hubby shows up, I'm pretty well down the drain in the energy department. So when I asked him what he wanted for dinner, I could have given him the world for his answer. "Let's get Domino's." Please understand we try not to eat out much, and even when we do go out, we try to eat pretty healthy. For example, I like to get salads or steak and Gamer likes chicken, or burgers while Sam loves mac and cheese or any kind of fruit. If we are going to do pizza, we tend to stick to things like Papa Murphy's which is take and bake and far less greasy than most fast food pizza. But occasionally nothing beats Domino's. Especially when locked in a bad mood. At Sound Castle we'd all pitch in to get what we each wanted and then have it delivered right to our door. Something none of us ever had...

Flowers

As you all well know I hate getting up early. The other day was one of those days where I had to be up early to make it to a doctor's appointment for little Clay. Just routine, but still it meant getting up much earlier than I had hoped to. I decided that after said appointment, as I didn't have time before, I'd go get coffee for me, and a cookie for Sam who had been an angel during the whole thing. Once out and as we waited in the drive thru line for coffee, I thought "what the heck, let's hit the farmer's market." We headed to downtown and as we struggled our way through traffic I thought about what we might enjoy while we wandered. Things like berries, lunch and little treats. What I didn't realize is there was something else I was going to be getting as well. Something simple that would change my whole day. When we finally arrived at the market, I put Sam in the stroller and we headed off to discover what was there for the day. The scents of curry...

Adulting and Freezing

Adulting. It can be so complicated, and yet mostly so easy too. Complicated because parenting, working, paying bills, getting groceries, cooking, and cleaning house. Generally all things adult or your adults do. But it can be as simple as letting the people in your life know what's going on so they can help plan things like say dinner, or when to put the baby to bed so they can see said person before they get tucked in. You know, the basics. You'd think that would be simple...yeah, or not. I've been waiting most of the day for the simple text of "I'll be home around..." Yet here it is nearly 5:00pm and he's been gone since 6:00am and still no word. I know darn good and well it's not his boss this time. It's him not wanting to deal with what he thinks of as conflict. My one and only massive pet peeve with his entire family and raising. They refuse to deal with any and all conflict, instead blaming everything else rather than just deal with the issue...

Sentimental, Music, and Movies

I woke up this morning in a sentimental mood. Maybe it had something to do with all the extra cuddling I've gotten the last couple of days, but when Sam woke up early this morning I just couldn't tell her to go back to bed. I actually wanted to get up early with her and spend some just good, solid Mommy/Sam time. So far we've only been up for an hour and already had breakfast, made coffee, changed her, did our hair ( both of us, shocker), unloaded the dishwasher, and started blogging. It's likely to be a typical mom day. Sweatpants, and messy bun, but hey she's at least got pants on, and a shirt! Insert chuckle. Right now she's happily sitting on my lap as I blog staring at the screen as the letter appear when I type them while we listen to Pandora. Mayhap that's a part of my sentimental mood. I love music but sometimes you just can't beat the classics. I don't mean just classical music such as Chopin, and Beethoven, but others like Bing Crosby and D...

Swirling Dervish

Have you ever seen a swirling dervish? They are pretty cool looking. All that wind spinning the dirt in an ever growing spiral. Yeah, it's neat. Unless of course said swirling dervish is your toddler. Then it's a matter of trying to contain said dervish. Allow me to explain. I awoke this morning surprisingly late with Sam. Granted I hadn't slept well but what's new there. Sam actually slept in, for which I was very grateful. We got up, I fed her a healthy breakfast of fruit and oatmeal (ok so the oatmeal was possibly loaded with brown sugar and milk). Changed her nasty poopy diaper, and of course decided to unload the dishwasher so Gamer can reload it later this evening. She was sitting quite happily in her high chair as I started on cleaning the kitchen counters off. When she was done with her breakfast I let her down...and that's when it started. I think I should have put a leash on her. Oh well. I continue cleaning the kitchen, getting the dishes soaking, wiping...

Weddings and Heat

Yesterday there was a wedding in my family that was about 3 or so hours away. Gamer and I made it to the wedding with Sam, but it was a scorcher out. Man, oh man, was it hot. Toss in getting dressed up and being pregnant plus it was an outside wedding, I wanted to die by the end of it. I somehow even managed to sunburn my right hand on the way down. Our car has no AC except 2-60 AC. That is to say 2 windows down at 60mph. So with one arm out the window, and my hand dangling in the burning sun, I burned my arm a little but my hand took the brunt of the heat. Which I discovered later when I was trying to balance a plate in one hand and eat with the other. I reached for the fork and suddenly realized that the back of my hand was bright red. Ooops. Oh well. A little lotion when we got home late that night did the trick. All in all it was a pretty wedding. Hot, but pretty. And hey, the cupcakes didn't melt, so bonus there. Sam enjoyed getting to play with another set of cousins from my...

Rub the Sleep From Your Eyes

That's me this morning. Blurry eyed stumbling down to the coffee maker to make that life giving force that brings humans from rubbing the sleep out of their eyes to at least functioning. Not that I'm at functioning point yet. Coffee is brewing. I have somehow managed to change Sam and get her started on breakfast while I attempt to rouse from my night of tossing and turning. Nope, not pregnancy. Our little boy was surprisingly quiet last night. I've been losing sleep due to stress, and a variety of unpleasant dreams. Not the night terrors or nightmares I deal with fairly regularly. Just rather unpleasant. But hey, it just means an extra cup of coffee first thing in the morning. Though my Doc would likely murder me for drinking to much coffee. To be fair, I generally only have one cup in the morning if that. I try not to drink to much when I'm pregnant. However, I've got to have some or someone in my little world might die. Like I've said before, I'm NOT a mo...

From Spring to Fall

Waking up this morning to find it raining in the middle of August was a bit of a shock. We normally never have rain here during August. Frankly I don't think I've ever seen it do that in the 6 years I've lived here. It appears we went straight from spring to fall this year. Honestly, I'm totally ok with that. It means that I don't have to deal with weeks on end of blistering hot weather while being 7 months pregnant. I'm kind of excited actually. Today we have my in-laws coming over for the day to come and hang out. I miss my in-laws. I haven't had a chance to really just hang out and chat with them for several weeks. Don't get me wrong I miss my parents just as much. I just wished they lived closer, or at least could come visit. Yeah, ok, I'll admit it, the rain brings out the cozy in me. Granted pregnancy hormones don't help in the least. You guessed it, I'm sitting here blogging with my coffee, my computer, and breakfast potatoes listeni...

Oh No A Spider! Aaaannnnndddd Mass Clean!

So this morning I woke up to find a horrifying sight. A nightmare inducing, scream worthy, terrifying sight. One that had me just about screeching and reaching for the phone for my husband to come home on his first day back to work to come save me and the babies. A SPIDER the size of a 50 cent piece on the wall above my dresser!!!!!! As I'm terrified of spiders the first thing I did was grab the biggest shoe I could find, screw up my courage, and smash the d*** thing to bits. YUCK! I hate those things. There is very little I'm afraid of but those are one of them. Ok so I wasn't actually going to call my husband but they really do scare the crap out of me. The bigger they are the scarier. The only good spider in my book, is a DEAD one. Any spider that crosses my path dies in seconds. I don't care how little. IT MUST DIE!!!!! We don't even call them spiders in this house. We call them spzz. A perfectly good way of avoiding nightmares. At least in this life. Of cours...

Sunshine and Parks

The sun is out and the world is beautiful. Today I think we shall hit the little park across town so Sam can play on the swings and run through the grass. Maybe I'll even pack a picnic dinner. That sounds like fun don't you think? I do so love days of sun, but I like days of rain just as much. Where you curl up with a book and hot cocoa. At work fall is already hitting the store and it's bringing out the homey feel in me. Fall is my favorite season of all. The warm colors of the trees changing, the slight chill in the air so you bring out the warm little sweaters, and of course the warm cozy fires. Soups tend to be my go to in the fall. They make me happy. Growing up when fall descended on my little home, the local stores would begin their yearly soups, and the chill in the air was fresh and filled with the scent of harvest apples and hay. The farmer's market was packed with fresh veggies, and late fruits. Someone would bring a cider press and everyone would bring thei...
