Let Chaos Rain
Ever have those days where someone asks "How's your day going?" And of course your answer is "It's been...hang on, the toilet just broke." Yeah, I've had a couple of those days in a row. Because you know when it rains, it pours. On the upside, Josh is coming home tonight and gets to be here for 4 whole days. I finally get to breathe for a moment. Perhaps we will even get to do something fun out of the house.
So the stories of the last couple of days antics have been as follows. Wednesday I woke up knowing that Josh was going to be home for a couple of hours. I was so excited. I cleaned, did laundry, cooked, hung out with Pixie when she surprised me with a visit, and took care of the kids all while itching for it to be when Josh got home. I stayed up late, and watched a movie to burn time. So of course when he got home, we just relaxed and just before he had to leave I fell asleep in his arms. Let me just say that was so nice. However, the moment he left the bed felt cold again. I woke up yesterday exhausted from not getting enough sleep and finally dragged myself out of bed. I did not want to get up. If I could have, I think I might have just slept the day away. But I roused myself enough to get up with the kids, and began to get them changed and dressed for the day. As it was a chilly one, I pulled out the long sleeves and sweat pants for all of us. Just as I mostly took off Clay's diaper which I discovered was a bit poopy, what should happen next but poop coming out like a geyser, and pee flying through the air! And of course Sam happened to be next to him but thankfully wasn't in the line of fire. That honor went to me. I finally get the poor little guy, whose got a very red little bum from straining to hard (such a boy) cleaned up and dressed. Managed to get me cleaned up, and Sam changed and dressed. Next we headed downstairs to try to get some breakfast going. After a bit of a fiasco there, we finally settled in to attempt to have a good day. Sam refused to cooperate and so did Clay's mouth. After screaming bloody murder, I finally discovered that my poor little guy is teething...again. And apparently one tooth is not enough for him. Three at once is. Or at least three that I can find. Silly boy. By the time I got Clay settled and actually down for a nap, I was bushed. So I thought I'd let Sam watch a 20 minute episode, and I would nap knowing the computer wouldn't last much beyond that. Yeah, an hour and a half later, I woke up to my dear sweet daughter raging at me and the world because the computer died. Apparently I had overestimated the battery life on it enormously. So, I fed her lunch and sent her off to bed for a nap (not that she took one mind you, but I had to at least try). At this point my body is telling me it's time to use the little ladies room. All's well that, oh wait, that's right, the toilet decided to break at that moment. And by that I mean the chain (some idiot decided plastic would suffice) decided to snap. If you've ever had to reach into the back of the tank on a toilet and manually flush it, you know that despite the fact that it's clean water, and it's just a little chilly, it's the concept of having to reach in that totally grosses you out. After you wash your hands and arms 10 times in a row with boiling water and antiseptic soap, you finally feel like you might be able to eat something. Thank heavens maintenance was able to fix it right away! The kids thankfully didn't decide to cause a fuss at that time while I was trying to deal with that. While those were the major things going on, the everyday Sam being a two year old monster, and Clay being a 10 month old teether were just par for the course. good times. Today started out the same as yesterday in the sense of chaos, but it settled down finally and both the kids seem to be doing better.
For now, my cousin is coming over for dinner, and I've managed to mend the bridges (I hope) with my next door neighbors. What can I say, it was late, they were a little loud and I was on 4 hours of sleep and only 1 cup of coffee knowing that I was going to have to be up early the next morning. So I wandered over to see if they could turn it down a wee bit. They were very sweet and did. One of the gentlemen that was over there was a kick in the pants. His sarcasm would have fit right in with Sound Castle. I felt bad that I hadn't actually introduced myself, so I made cupcakes. Today they returned the pan and informed me they love home-cooked food so they were thrilled with the cupcakes. I had to admit they came out of a box. But it looks like I've finally got some people to feed when Josh is gone and I've got way to many left overs. Yay!!! You all know how I hate wasting food. Maybe I'll get a couple of drinking buddies out of the deal lol. Just kidding. Mostly. Right now I'm going to sit and drink my first cup of java for the day. Yes it's national coffee day and I've not had any yet. There is seriously something wrong with me on occasion. Oh who are we kidding, there's always something wrong with me lol. But what's life without a little crazy in it.
With all that's been going on, not just in our lives but in the world in general, we've got to remember to just breathe. God's got us no matter what and He always will. We can rest in knowing that no matter how crazy, or insane, or how many toilets break, or how many times you yell at your child to not do something, or teeth you have to try to comfort while they come in, God's got it all. And we can just breathe. He'll keep us above water if we hang on the thread He is holding even when it seems so tiny we think there's no way it will hold. Just breathe.
And with that, I bid you all good night!
