Family
My brother sent me a text last night with the sweetest thing in it. He told me he was about to have this new video out that I should watch. For those of you who are just starting to read, my brother is the Producer of Crunk Cabins Studios and Six Guns Productions. He films videos, writes and produces music, and produces music for local artists where he lives. He has written, filmed, edited, and produced a couple of movies, produced at least 3 albums, and done some hilarious video sketches. All by the age of 19. I'm pretty darn proud of him.
So when he told me there was going to be a new one, I was excited. Little did I know what was coming. As soon I got the link to the video I pulled it up only to discover this wasn't he usual type of video. It was in fact a video about A Simple Country Mouse. It was so sweet and it reminded me why I do this. Why I blog and why I'm expanding my horizons slowly but surely. Why I'm making a point to sit down and blog more often. It touched me so much to see how much my little brother gets me and loves me enough to promote something that is so near and dear to my heart. I don't think a girl could have a sweeter brother in her life. I know I wouldn't trade him for the universe and all it's riches.
I have many "adopted" siblings as well who are always there for me when I need it. Brothers and sisters from my youth group growing up, Author whom I met during college, all of Author's siblings who took me in and have adopted me as one of their own, a little sister and brother who have grown up and gone on missions trips and then she got married (the wedding was a blast and she looked amazing. She actually wore the same dress I wanted to purchase for my wedding 6 years before. What can I say, she has good taste.), and sisters and a brother who live across the country with their families and once lived next door. While this list doesn't even begin to touch all the aunties, uncles, moms, and dads I have also "adopted" through the years, it doesn't mean they don't mean the world to me. Each one of these people have loved on me, taught me, held me as I cried, encouraged me, fought for me, and most of all, helped me grow in my Faith. Without each and every one of these wonderful, amazing people I could never have made it to the crazy, chaotic, and utterly incredible life that I live now.
There is one person I must give a special shout out to though. Because without her I wouldn't have the awesome brother I have today. You see once upon a long time ago this incredible woman chose to be my mom. She chose to accept me and all the crazy baggage that came with me. She didn't have to. She could have walked away or even been a horrid cliché. But she didn't. She chose me. She taught me, loved me more than life itself, encouraged me, fought with me (which taught me how to deal with conflict, which is amazingly important), and she is much of the reason I am the person I am today. She is the wonder woman of my life. Ups and downs she has always had a listening ear. Good times and bad she has always wanted what was best for me. Yes even when we disagreed on what was best for me. She's been a rock and a life raft for me since the day I had the pleasure of meeting her. She's my mom. And honestly, I'm not sure where I'd be without her.
Family is the people you are related to to some extent, but it's also the people you choose to surround yourself with. They are the ones who pick you up when you fall, and the ones fight for you when you've gotten yourself in a corner. Good or bad they love you no matter what. In that regard, I have a lot of family. And I wouldn't change it for a moment. I love each and every person I consider family. I can only hope they know how much I love them for I'm not sure I could ever truly show them exactly how much.
For anyone who wants to see it, I have included the link to the video my brother posted. If you like it please subscribe to his page and watch all the videos. I guarantee you will get a laugh. They always make me smile.
