To Exhaustion and Beyond!!!

Are you ever so tired you literally can't see straight? Or in my case, are you ever so tired you put the foil in the freezer and the plastic wrap in the fridge? So tired you try to take a shower only to realize you don't have a towel? Or you sit down to read for a few minutes only to wake up an hour later wondering why your kindle or book is suddenly on the floor and not in your hand? I do that last one a lot. More often than not we are so tired because we are so busy that we forget to just chill. I do that on a regular basis. I get so wrapped up in cleaning, cooking, taking care of kids, taking care of Josh, running to ballet or yoga, having guests, and just general crazy that I forget that I have to take care of me too. On a daily basis that means taking a few minutes out of each day to just stop and breathe. To drink a cup of coffee, and actually sit down for a meal. Though admittedly sometimes that last one is after I've tucked the kids in for bed. I'm trying to get in the habit of every morning just taking a couple minutes before getting the kids up to just wake up enough that I'm not stumbling around yelling at them because I'm still mostly asleep. Most mornings this means laying in bed staring at the ceiling while beginning to engage my brain for a minute or two. Then I get the kids and we all tumble down stairs to the table where I feed them and start coffee. I've learned in the past couple weeks that if I start coffee right away and not let the kids down until I've managed at least a sip or two, I survive the day better. Setting realistic goals for the day helps too. Though if I'm honest, I'm terrible at that. Today's to do list isn't to bad because I decided to take a chapter out of another mom's book. For those who don't know her, Kristina Kuzmic is hilarious and right on when it comes to being a mom. This is her to do list.
1. Get out of bed.
2. Pee (in private)
3. Love on my kids

I like her list far better than mine, but for once I decided to take it a little easy on myself. Here's my list for the day.
1. Pay bills-done
2. laundry
3. ballet class for Sam
4. get dressed...before leaving
5. hair/makeup
6. call Author-done
7. coffee-done
8. blog-doing
9. store run
10. check mail-done
11. check email-done
12. get my kindle organized...finally-mostly done only 20-ish books left to put in collections
13. eat something before and after ballet-still working on this
14. take out trash...again

Yup, that's it. Not going to even look at the dishes until tomorrow, or the living room for that matter. Just me and my kids trying to survive another crazy day. Tomorrow can be pick up day. And for once, I'm going to take Author's advice and just say no to the annoying voice in my head that says my list isn't enough.
So, here's to saying no, and to taking a break. For me that means I'm done blogging for the day as I've had to rewrite the same word 5 times. Lol. Good Night!
