Packing...

Good lord who knew how much stuff you need for traveling with two toddlers and two adults for 5 days? Not to mention all the little things you need to do before you an even leave?!? It's crazy.
For example my to do list before leaving:
Vacuum-incase of food on the carpet...kids...don't want mice
Sweep-no sugar ants please
Mop-same reason as above
Laundry-need clean clothes to pack
Empty the washer-do you have any idea what happens if you leave wet clothes in there to long? If not consider yourself lucky.
Take out all the trash-5 day old trash...ewwww.
Dishes-nasty dishes for 5 days...no thank you.
Wipe down counters and stove-sugar ants get every where...I think they have super powers.
Clean out coffee pot-nasty old coffee when I am struggling to see straight the first morning we are home? Yeah, NOPE!!!
Clean out the fridge-old gross gone bad food...hard pass please.
Clean both kids' rooms-I plan on dropping them in bed the moment we get home as it's probably going to be late, so kinda gotta have beds made...ish.
Clean our room-I plan on dropping into bed once the kids are dropped in bed...
Clean up back porch toys-I seriously don't feel like coming home to disintegrated chalk everywhere.
Lock all windows and doors-uhhhh, I really don't need the house broken into because I was stupid.
Double check all heaters-kids....they like to turn on random things sometimes and I prefer a low heating bill.
Clean out cars-Toddlers+cars+food+toys+random stuff everywhere=very messy cars and no fun for road tripping.
Check car fluids-I forgot to one time...never again!
Fill cars with gas-....no gas....no go.
Charge kids' kindle and download shows-6+ hours in the car...definitely need something distracting when they hit cranky time. Usually around 5.5 hours.
Shower-yes I literally have to remind myself to shower sometimes. Not because I forget so much as I'm usually bushed by then. Mom problems man, mom problems.
Fill travel shampoo bottles-what happens when you are gone for several days and each person has special shampoo due to random things? You make sure to have little bottles of shampoo so you don't have to truck along the giant bottles that take up way to much space and like to spill everywhere. Ziplocks are your friend while traveling with anything liquid.
Pack-can't go on a trip without packing. 5 days, same clothes, no diapers or panties? Kill me now.
Check emails-considering I often forget to do this I have to put it on my list.
Check mail-see above reason...
Blog-again see above reason.....well go up two I suppose...

All this with a doctor's appointment, regular cleaning, laundry, kids, and cooking. And then there is the packing....oh heavens....the packing....
Sam-
t-shirts-duh
tank tops-it's supposed to be hot
sweater-then again who knows
shorts-again...hot
jeans-again...who knows, and she's going to be hanging with 5 boy cousins....so there's that.
socks-no brainer
sandals-easier to wash
converse-heaven forbid...hiking
panties-otherwise known as pull ups
makeup bag-toothbrush, toothpaste, hair brush, ect. Not actual makeup...she's 3.
vitamins-don't all kids need them
stuffies-and repeat...don't all kids need them
blanket-always have one for each person...or so my dad always said.
pillow-again...my dad's theory.
water bottle-if I forgot this the world might end....in a huge blaze of Sam's rage.

Clayton-
Rinse and repeat of Sam list but add wipes and a few other things....and a few extra of most of it. Boys man. That's all I can say.

I'm not even going to touch Josh and I's packing lists. Once you get all that packed then you have all the extra fun stuff. You know, snacks, toys, graduation gift....so on and so forth. All this to say, sometimes getting ready and coming home from a trip is almost more exhausting than the trip itself. But all in all we do it because it's fun...or because we have to. You choose. Lol. What's your next trip?
