Pancakes, and Berries, and Syrup OH MY!
Yesterday was a lovely day spent together as a family down at our local farmer's market. And quite the market it was. There was so much lovely product, and food, and well, it was just lovely. We wandered the market with no real goal except to have some fun. We found fresh black berries, and a peach. Homemade cheesecake, and lemon bars. Coffee poured over root beer and my favorite, yummy Greek gyros. For those of you who don't know what a gyro is, it's a type of sandwich I suppose. A warmed pita is filled with tzatziki sauce (a yogurt based sauce with herbs), red onion, feta cheese, and meat that is vertically roasted, most commonly lamb. Sometimes they put in herbed roasted potatoes too. That's what I had. Oh yum yum yum. I rarely get them, maybe once or twice a year, but when I do, I so thoroughly enjoy them. Some day I'd like to learn how to make my own, but that day isn't anytime soon as the vertically roasting thing is at least $600 to even get started. Yeah, I may be a damn good cook, but even I can't justify that without a restaurant. I'll just have to get mine at the farmer's market, or the little gyro shop in downtown.
After the farmer's market, we hit the grocery store and made chicken alfredo for dinner. It was yummy. Gamer is finally going to be able to go back to work, and I am finally feeling a little better. Though I woke up this morning feeling rather nauseous. But I decided that making pancakes with the black berries we bought yesterday was a good idea. I was right. They were delicious. Especially with my dad's syrup recipe from when I was a kid. I've never been a huge fan of thick gooey syrup much preferring the thinner version that my dad made when I was little. So I made a big batch of that to dump into our now empty syrup container, and homemade pancakes with black berries. Yum, yum. Topped with fresh coffee, and a chance to blog, life today is good. Mayhap I'll even get a chance to read, and if I'm really lucky a little nap. Wouldn't that be nice since my boy decided to keep me up half the night? He's quite the kicker.
Well my dearest bloggers, I look forward to another day in my little world with my little family. I hope all is well with you and I promise to have a much more amusing story to tell when next I blog. May life lift you up and may hope always abound.
