Rain In Summer?
What is this rain is summer thing? I roused this morning to find myself staring at gray clouds and falling rain....in JULY! This never happens. But then I got to thinking about it, and was kind of excited. That meant it would be cooler today, right? Yeah...not so much unfortunately. It was plenty warm, however add in rain and you get muggy. Toss in pregnancy...shoot me now. By the end of my shift I was sweaty and ready to be done. It's a need to be off my feet night. Maybe movie, and cuddles. Oh and the best grilled cheese sandwiches this side of heaven. Gamer makes the best, and I do mean the best, grilled cheese ever. They are always so perfectly melted, and gooey, and lightly golden, and so buttery it slides down your throat with nary a chew. So, so, so delicious. Perfect for rainy days or any day I don't want to cook. While it's one of the only things he can cook, it's at least pretty d*** amazing. Tonight he added sliced ham to mine for some extra protein. As it's also the only way I get to eat deli meat while I'm pregnant, it sounded wonderful. Sam adores her daddy's grilled cheese. She eats a whole sandwich on her own, plus a quarter can of pork and beans, which we always serve with grilled cheese rather than tomato soup. Gamer and I can't stand tomato soup. One day when the kids are older, I'll introduce them to it, but if they hate it as much as we do, that works for us. If they like it, well, we can roll with that too. I've never understood tomato soup. Granted we always had Campbell's Concentrated Tomato Soup, so maybe that's why. That and the school soup was just plain gross. That stuff should only be served in prison. Even then, I might feel a little bad for the inmates. Anyways, so instead Gamer and I have pork and beans, which Sam first started. We discovered she loves them with her grilled cheese by sheer accident. Having no soup to serve with our grill cheese, and noticing a can of the beans, we thought what the heck, why not. So, we popped it open, heated them, and gave them to her. She ate half the can on her own that night. After a gnarly diaper or two, we decided to limit her to a quarter can serving each time. She always wants more, but we save them for her. Or Gamer and I wind up eating the rest of the can. Since finding her love of them, we keep the house well stocked with them when I can find them on sale. Otherwise those blasted things are expensive anymore. When did the basics get so expensive? Ahh well.
With all that random ranting and mostly babble, I leave you with one simple thought. It's very important. Here goes, how do you grill cheese?
