How To Fix A Grouchy Mommy
In today's post we shall be discussing how to fix a grouchy mommy. I shall lay out things in everything in several steps.
1. Make coffee, or hot apple cider complete with mandarin oranges, cloves, nutmeg, and cinnamon in a big warm mug.
2. Make a nice meal. A favorite of hers is always a win. If you don't have the ingredients for the favorite, make the second favorite.
3. Bring chocolate. Always bring chocolate. If you want to survive mommy being grouchy you will always bring chocolate. I cannot say this enough. In just about every form chocolate will solve nearly every problem for moms. Well, right after coffee.
4. If you have done coffee, food, and chocolate, then a good movie with cuddling is a good option. Chick flicks, rom-coms, or a good action flick should do the trick. If mommy is more of a reader, get her favorite book, or just a good book in general. Romance is often preferred when reading.
5. Draw a hot bath. This would be a good time to light some nice smelling candles, turn down the lights, and add in some instrumental music. Oh, and more chocolate.
6. Do the dishes. Yes, you would be amazed at how much better mommy will be after you've done a good job on the dishes. Laundry is an added bonus, but mainly dishes.
7. If you are the husband, take the kids for a little while so mommy gets some much needed (and well deserved) "mommy time". What is this you ask? It's a time alone for mommy to do something little for her, be it a book, or even something as simple as taking a pee alone. You have no idea how much getting to pee in privacy means to a mom. Just trust me on this.
8. Tuck mommy in bed for the night, or for a much needed nap. A big part of why mommy is probably grouchy is she needs a little extra sleep to live through the rest of the day, or to wake up tomorrow much happier.
9. If all these fail, here's one last thing you can do. Give mommy a hug, a kiss, tell her you love her, and how much of an awesome mommy she really is. Then leave the room for a little while and just let her be. Yup, works pretty much every time.
If you manage to fail at all of these, well, go see a counselor as you apparently can't do the very basic things. Yes, that sounds harsh, but likely true. While you are off to see the counselor you are doing two things. 1. you are learning how to actually help mommy, and 2. you are doing number 7. So look, you didn't fail completely.
While most of this is satirical, there actually is some good advice in there from a mommy to the rest of the world. All moms get grouchy at times, and sometimes it seems like nothing will make them feel better. Sometimes we as mommies just need a break from reality and then we return much better. Each of these little things are a great way to help with that process. Sometimes, no matter what you do, mommies will just be grouchy. It will eventually go away, I promise. Even if it's been a couple days, just give it some time and keep reminding her of how much you love her. It will get better.
Well my bloggers, I hope you got a little laugh, and possibly some decent advice, and maybe, just maybe, some ways you can spoil mommy for all the things she does for you. May life find you well, and the sun shine down you.
