Road Trips, and Blasted Work

I know, I know, I know. I haven't written for a while. That my dear friends is because I've been driving along the coast, and then blasting back to work. I was headed to a really great conference on the beach with Author, and it was a kick in the pants. Let me tell you, it was hilarious, and sad, and emotionally draining like nobody's business. We met up with one of the mamas and spent the weekend in this adorable little town on the beach. It has this little Christmas shop that we hit, and found Christmas presents for some of the family. Author got all of her Christmas shopping done, well, almost. I, on the other hand, only got two of my presents done. The conference itself was about rest, of all things. Me? Rest? Remind me of the definition of rest, because last time I checked it was something like, "run around like a chicken with your head cut off until you drop down dead." No? Oh, bummer. Well, I tried. Anyways, we had a blast, and then headed to mama and papa's house for a night. Author had to be back at work the next day, so we hit the road early Monday morning. Our drive was very pleasant with very little traffic and the sky was a blue as it could be. Not a single cotton cloud in sight. The sun was in it's glory and everything glistened under it's light. with was a Beautiful day to be out and about. The only minor problem was we were both so tired we barely noticed.
When we finally made it home, Author crashed in a chair curled in a blanket, and I wound up on the couch with blankets and pillows stuffed around me. Gamer was curled up at my feet like a lost little puppy. Which he seemed to be the entire time I was gone. Poor guy. He barely ate, and got bored playing video games, and barely slept. As I curled up on the couch he decided he want to put his head on my lap, just like a puppy. He's so cute. What can I do but adore him?
Mad Scientist/Computer Whiz tried his darndest to distract poor Gamer all weekend long. He did manage to succeed to some extent for which I was very grateful. I felt bad for the poor guy. I totally understand what it's like to have to deal with a lost puppy of a person. Then again, I was having to much fun. ;)
Anyways, after we got home, Author went to work and I took a nap. the following day both of us slept in late and she went into work later that afternoon. I spent the day recouping and sprawled out on the floor with a paint brush in one hand, and the computer playing one of my favorite shows, Merlin. No I haven't finished the canvas, but it's looking pretty good. I hope to finish it perhaps tomorrow. My wonderland canvas turned out quite well, and is now hung above our TV where Author decided it should go. Granted if it was me, I would stuff in the back of my closet where none would ever see it. Then again, I would do that with all my paintings and sketches. I tend to hide those kinds of things simply because I don't think anyone would want to look at it. Even if they did, what they saw is not always exactly as it appears. When you look closer in my art you will always see a deeper meaning. There is always something hidden, just waiting to be noticed. Something tucked away where unless you look closely, it will be missed. Albeit if you miss those little things, you miss the point of the art itself. Things are not always as they appear. In my humble opinion, people are much the same way. While yes, some are legitimately just shallow, for the most part, there is always some underlying little thing about people. Such is the same with my art. Thus, why I prefer to stuff them in a closet and never let them out.
Well bloggers, it's off to my new show. I will do my best to try to post here soon. Goodnight!!!
