The Thing About Books

I do so love a good book, but with every to good to be true thing there is likely a downside. For me, books, and Pier 1 are my kryptonite (stupid spell check won't work). Books in particular are my favorite. So, since yesterday was an unexpectedly long one, I decided to not crawl out from beneath my cozy warm covers until roughly 1:00 this afternoon. Let me tell you, it was a pleasure. I don't remember the last time I stayed in bed so long. Well beyond when I sicker than a dog. With my nose stuck in a delightful fairytale about Captain Hook finding love, I lazed the time away and was completely content. Only the smell of fresh brewed coffee coaxed me out. That and I had to use the bathroom. And my tummy was yelling at me to feed it.
My hubby bought me a kindle a few years back for Christmas, and it's one of the gifts I hold most precious. Because I love books so much, the fact that I can carry 1000 books or more in my back pocket is pretty awesome. It's great for long car rides too. I read every thing from vampire fantasy, to historical romance, to action/adventure, even tapping a little into sci-fi. If it has a good plot, and some good characters, I am more than willing to give it a try. Today I finished the one I had started late last night. Yes, another one of my quirks. There is a blessing and a curse to reading over 450 words per minute. When you are reading something you don't want to, it goes really fast, but you read a good book in no time flat, and you wind up spending tons of money on just books. Don't get me wrong, the more you read the better in my opinion (well, so long as it's not just flat gross stuff). The down side is the spending tons of money. Amazon does have an excellent selection of free and 0.99ers. So those tend to be my favorites.
