Busy on Bed Rest
Well it's certainly been an interesting week here at Hidden Forest Cabin. Monday started fine enough. I had done a few little projects, nothing that I thought would really do much, but when Tuesday rolled in the contractions started. As I still had nearly a full week before I was technically allowed to go into labor with little Clay, I figured I should probably call the doc and let them know. They weren't overly painful or very consistent, so I knew I wasn't in labor by any means just making sure that other than putting my booty down, my feet up, and drinking lots I didn't need to be doing anything else. The nurse I spoke to told me I needed to come all the way in to the hospital to get checked out. As it's a 45 minute drive in and I still hadn't even packed for the hospital yet, thinking I had at least another week, I was not thrilled with the idea. But I packed up Sam, and called my mother in law, Author, My mother, and of course Gamer. Author started laughing as I bemoaned my state of affairs of annoying contractions and getting dragged in for no reason. She was of no help...my mother in law took forever to pick up her phone as she had left the desk (and her cell) so someone had to fetch her as her phones were blowing up with me trying to get a hold of her to meet me at the hospital. She has the delegated responsibility of taking Sam when Clay decides to make an appearance. So anytime I wind up in the hospital she gets dragged along just in case I'm actually in labor. I left my mother a voicemail just letting her know that it was nothing to be worried about yet. Then proceeded into the hospital to get checked. Of course we got there, checked in, and got into the room all dressed and monitored only to have all contractions stop. He was still moving of course, but no contractions. Yeah, gotta love that kind of deal. All work and no gain. Ah well. We got sent home and so after a quick lunch with my mother in law, we headed that way to get Sam down for a nap. After that it was fairly uneventful for the day, but we were once again in the car first thing in the morning on our way to the doctor's office. This time only because it was a routine checkup. Baby was happy and doing well, but definitely still well ensconced in mommy's tummy. Once again we headed home after making the arrangements for the next few appointments. We had lunch, and Sam went down for her daily nap. I started on some light projects around the house until she woke up. Once she was well awake we headed to the store to hunt down some ingredients for some meals for the up coming days.
Gamer came home as usual, and that's when things began to get very interesting. He received a call from his foreman letting him know that he was likely not working the next day. Which frankly was fine with us as it gave us an extra day to get all the little baby projects and other projects done that we've been trying to get to. Things like organizing the shower stuff, getting all the dishes done, getting bedrooms clean, deep cleaning the bathroom, and of course, installing the car seat for the new baby which of course meant cleaning out the cars filled with newly purchased diapers.
So Thursday was spent tackling much of these projects, and of course we realized after our sweet daughter peed her bed for the heavens knows how many-ith time by taking off her diaper, that we needed to try something new. So Costco run it was for pull-ups on Friday. And along the way we ran a few other much needed errands. However what we didn't realize is that pushing myself that hard was going to cause, yup you guessed it, contractions. You'd think I'd learn but no, what's the fun in that. So it was homeward bound for us all. Sam for a nap, Gamer for some chill time, and me for some bed rest and sleep. Later I was able to get up and get a few more light chores done, but generally had to take it easy.
Saturday rolled in with a lot of rain, and more projects. Which simply meant, more light chores for me, heavy lifting for Gamer and playing for Sam, who decided that sleeping all the time has suddenly become a great pass time. Add to that clingy-ness, and of course crankiness and you get the symptoms of growth spurt. So that's been fun for the past couple of days. Yesterday we decided to try out a new church in the area. So, we all roused early, had pancakes and managed to make it to church on time, and even get Sam into her Sunday school room where she impressed the teachers with being so good, and quiet even. I'm pretty sure they weren't talking about my child who is a maniac (like all toddlers) sometimes, and is very much loud and opinionated. Or maybe she just was actually good for once. It can happen I suppose. My in laws invited us to lunch and my little temper tantrum nearly two year old made her appearance once again. Which unfortunately cut our lunch a little short, but was still very much enjoyable. After having been running around all morning, and standing for long periods of time without moving, I was once again banned to the bed to get some rest.
So all in all it's been an eventful week of running and resting. I'm not one to enjoy lazing in bed for more than a short time, so the getting banned to bed by my very sweet, good intentioned but slightly over protective husband has been driving me a little nuts. As much as I adore and love my hubby, I was glad to see him off to work this morning so I could spend the day working on little projects like emails, blog, and of course playing with Sam. Granted I'll probably need to rest later when he gets home, but for now it's been nice to not have someone telling me I can't. Just for the day.
Today's blog is a little long, and slightly rambling, but it has been a nice stress reliever for me. For now, I have to go get my little munchkin up from her nap and feed her something and then start on dinner. Have a great day my friends and I look forward to posting again. Hopefully something a little more amusing.
