Dinner With an Old Friend
There is a very old friend of mine that I am going out to dinner with tonight, and I can't wait. It's been a long time since we have just hung out and and done dinner. We used to do it all the time, but in the pass few years we just haven't had the time to do so. Author is headed off to her Christmas party for work this evening, and Scientist and I are going out. Yes, Scientist is my very old friend.
We grew up together in a very different culture than the one we now find ourselves in. With the Code of the West drilled into our heads, common courtesy law, and common sense reigned supreme, the one we now find ourselves in is very different. After he graduated high school, he stuck around, and worked at a little restaurant in the middle of now where. I was working for a bakery just across the street, and was asked if I'd like a second job from the manager of the restaurant. I took the job and waitress-ed after work at the bakery. At the time my life was anything but perfect. The crew at the restaurant was the bright spot in my days, and my little brother made life meaningful. Scientist and I became close friends, and I knew any guy I dated wasn't worth my time if Scientist didn't like him. Which is probably the reason I only brought home one guy for him to meet, Gamer. The two of them hit it off like fish to water. They have been good friends ever since. Poor Gamer, if he hadn't fit the bill, he wouldn't have made the cut to be my hubby. I'm so blessed he did. Back to Scientist. When Gamer and I decided to get an apartment, we wanted a roommate. Scientist needed to move away from where he was because, while a visit to the town where we grew up is great, living there can be hard. So, he moved in with us. Sadly since then, we just haven't taken the time to hang out like we used to. With Gamer gone for the weekend, and me going a little batty, we thought a night out would be a good idea.
With that said my dear bloggers, I'm going to sit and finish my cup of coffee, and read before I do Author's hair for her party. Have a great day!
P.S. THE SUN IS SHINING!!!!
