Sunshine and Parks
The sun is out and the world is beautiful. Today I think we shall hit the little park across town so Sam can play on the swings and run through the grass. Maybe I'll even pack a picnic dinner. That sounds like fun don't you think?
I do so love days of sun, but I like days of rain just as much. Where you curl up with a book and hot cocoa. At work fall is already hitting the store and it's bringing out the homey feel in me. Fall is my favorite season of all. The warm colors of the trees changing, the slight chill in the air so you bring out the warm little sweaters, and of course the warm cozy fires. Soups tend to be my go to in the fall. They make me happy. Growing up when fall descended on my little home, the local stores would begin their yearly soups, and the chill in the air was fresh and filled with the scent of harvest apples and hay. The farmer's market was packed with fresh veggies, and late fruits. Someone would bring a cider press and everyone would bring their apples to make homemade cider together. Canning would start and jams and canned fruits would abound. Applesauce was a big one in my family. We would get together and peel/slice apples for hours while we had music playing. At the time is was never ending, but I wouldn't mind trying it now for my kids. It's much healthier to have your own at home. We'd can pears, and dry all kids of fruit in our dryers. Everything from peaches and pears, to apples, and bananas. Apricots and nectarines, to plums and even tried prunes once. My favorite was always the pears. I do so love pears. One of these days I'll get the set up to start canning and drying. I just haven't had time, space, or money to do so. And unfortunately, it's kind of a thing that you have to do in one swing. You can't really just start then stop in the middle of it. At least that's what Daddy always said. Now I think I'm going to have to try a small batch of applesauce. Sam loves fruit and so I'm always trying to find new ways of letting her have it. And of course one of these days I'll get around to my giant list of wanting to try.
For now I'll stick with my nesting stage of pregnancy and go clean out my closet of stuff that I haven't had time to clean out since high school. Yeah, time to purge and get some new things for sure. And then it's onto planning the new nursery, and cleaning the house, and hopefully getting enough silver done to last through the Christmas season.
Well my dear bloggers, I'm off to another fine day in paradise. And by paradise I mean a crazy, chaotic, insane, wonderful life with my family. Off I go!
