Simple Days

You know bloggers, there are few things I will never take for granted. My family, my freedom, my friends, and the simple things in life. So often I tend to forget about how much I love the sight of a clean house, the smell of the BBQ grilling up some yummy something, sound of laughter from a little child, and the companionship of family. A cup of coffee, the laughter of friends playing a game together, completed my picture of a simple day.
This morning I woke up to clear skies, and the warmth of the sun on my face as I luxuriated in my soft comfy bed. I enjoyed slowly waking up and walking out into the living room to find the boys playing a game together. They were laughing at something silly in the game and the sound of it brought a smile to my face. When I got a call that big brother and sister were coming with our niece, my smile became a grin. I was so excited to see our little one. Gamer and I slammed out cleaning the house to surprise the roomies, and so we didn't have to worry about little one getting into anything. The house was smelling like an apple orchard mixed with a hint of cinnamon and a touch of cleaners. Dishes were done, bathroom, bedrooms, and living room cleaned and vacuumed. and the dining room cleared of clutter and crumbs, the house was a welcoming warmth of comfort. When everyone came home, I whipped up a sauce for the chicken I had thawed for dinner, and big brother and I fired up the grill. Sister and I swapped kitchen stories, and little one ran around the house with all of us charmed and wrapped around her finger. I swear, her smile lights up the house and could power a city. Her laugh on the other hand, well, that could power a nation. Author and Scientist came home to dinner done, and the family setting up Settlers of Catan. With a round of laughs and jokes, we played a game, and sent ourselves rolling on the floor with merriment. It's been a long time since I've laughed that hard while blushing so deeply it went all the way to my toes.
I don't know about you bloggers, but all in all it's been one of the best simple days I've had in a long time. I look forward to the next. It was such a good day, I don't even mind that I have to be at work in 7 1/2 hours. So, with a content smile on my face, and still basking in the love of family, I head to bed to look forward to another day of simple contentedness. Good night Bloggers!!!
