Bright and Shiny Sun
Ahhh, sunshine. It's such an amazing thing. It allows plants to grow, brings light each and every day, and radiates warmth for the whole world to bask in. It's that time of year that we all pull out those shorts and tanks, and head down to find water to play in with friends, family, and kids. Gamer and I are busy with work and keeping little Sam entertained. She's growing so fast, and I'm having a heck of a time keeping up with her. Then again being pregnant will do that to you. It means long days, and short nights. This child is crazy I swear. While I don't know if it's a boy or girl yet, this little one is certainly strong. Already when they kick me, it's as strong as when Sam was 7 or 8 months along. They are a total night owl, and love to sleep through most of the day, unless I'm settling to actually try to relax once in a while. Then it's "Hi mom!! I'm here, just so you know. I'm going to do my stretches now!!!!!! hope you don't mind if I kick the crap out of your organs while I play soccer in here." The little rugrat....ahh well, I wouldn't have it any other way. Sam is already running around and she's staring to try to talk. "MAMA!!!!!!!" is something I hear regularly. And by that I mean every few minutes in the midst of whatever other baby talk she's jabbering on about. Every once in a while she says something clear as a bell. Typically a full sentence. For example the other morning I actually got to laze in bed with her playing with daddy in the next room. Next thing I know, she runs straight into the room and right next to the bed and says "time to get up Mama." Then promptly runs out laughing. Her daddy and I just started laughing and couldn't stop. It was just to perfectly clear. So, of course I crawl out of bed to go play with my little girl. Later we took her to go see Nana at the show she was doing, and oh boy did she love that. She got to run and play in the grass while the rest of us helped break down the booth. In her fluffy pink tutu, she was the cutest thing there.
Ok, enough about all that. I love talking about my kids. What can I say? I'm a mom. While being a stay at home mom is amazing for the most part, it does have it's days. When asked what I do for a living, I chuckle when people look appalled that I work from home. Yes, I make jewelry from home, but I'm mostly a mom. So when they ask, "so, you're just a mom?" my reply tends to be, "yes, I'm a mom." Just a mom, that makes me, head chef, sous chef, baker, maid, chauffeur, waitress, busser, hostess, referee, secretary, personal security, monster hunter, singer, counselor, photographer, cheerleader, handyman, teacher, ATM, alarm clock, hair dresser, personal event planner, and superhero to my kids. I don't get much sleep, and I am always on call. I don't get days off, or get paid leave. I don't get sick days, or the I hate the world, I'll go crawl in a hole days. Yes, I'm just a mom, but damned if we moms aren't Wonder Woman. Even on the days we feel like crap, and want to ignore the world, we are still awesome. So, before you think, just a mom, remember what it takes to be a mom.
And with that my dear bloggers, I'll call it a day. Much love and enjoy the sunshine!!!
