Hot Coffee And A Warm Shower
Remember how some time ago I mentioned I am not a morning person? Here's another fun fact. I don't like taking my showers in the morning. In college I would take them as late at night as I possibly could. I found that the community bathroom was as quiet as can be at midnight, and that the hot water was on an endless supply. I would wait until curfew (as ours you just had to be in the dorm, but you could be wandering the dorm) and then go take a shower just after everyone cleared out of our community bathroom. Our bathroom was shared with 4 other rooms, and each contained 2-4 people in them. I think there was a total of 11 or 12 of us. The bathroom itself contained three toilet stalls, three shower stalls, and a long, wrap around counter with three sinks. There was a small closet where some people kept their stuff, and the extra toilet paper and paper towels were kept there. The bonus to having a community bathroom, unlike the other dorms which had bathrooms built into each room, was we never had to clean our bathroom. The janitors did that for us. Other than that, it was pretty much a figure out when no one else was in there sort of thing.
Wow, ok going back to what I was originally say. Sorry, I tend to rabbit trail some times. Anyways, I generally prefer to take my showers late at night rather than in the morning. Sadly, unless it is before 10, that is no longer an option for me. So this morning when I crawled out of bed, feeling greasy and not feeling totally up to par, I thought "ah, what better way to start the day than with a clean, fresh, hot shower. And then a hot cup of coffee." So, that's exactly what I did. I found that the shower in the morning was more pleasant than I remember morning showers being. Now, with a cup of coffee in one hand and my laptop on my lap, I sit here enjoying this peaceful morning. Scientist got up and has already done the dishes, and I believe is now making some breakfast. It smells delightful.
Scientist is a great cook. Though he says he has no idea what he's doing, nearly everything I've ever had that he's made has been truly pleasing to the taste buds. His chicken and potato curry is to die for! I could simply eat it day and night. And from me, that's a compliment. I love food. My boss and I tend to refer to each other and others who like food as foodies. (Which as I typed this didn't realize that this is a new thing to do. I was a bit surprised when the word didn't try to spell check me, so I looked it up. Ah, Wikipedia.) As you know I am a prep cook for a living. Mind you prep cook at my business just means do whatever the chef doesn't have time to do. That can mean anything from wiping down cupboards and fridges, to cleaning and defrosting freezers, to whipping up a delicious confection of dessert, or even doing paperwork. This is only a tiny amount of what I do, but you get the general idea. So, for me to be complimenting anyone on their food, is an actual compliment, not me just being nice. Scientist's curry takes the blue ribbon in my book. He doesn't bake, but that's mostly because he prefers to cook. I love to do both, but baking is my downfall to be sure. I will bake up anything I can just for kicks and giggles. He will cook up anything that sounds even remotely good. He builds a pretty good fire too. Like the one he just built.
Well bloggers, I'm off to finish my coffee, and enjoy breakfast. Have a great day!
