Sun Shine!!!!!!
The sun is out Bloggers!!!! While it may only be a break of just a day in the consistently cold and deary world around me, I'm still thankful for each moment it is here. Here the rain starts and then doesn't stop (unless it decides to snow) for several months. So each day of little bit of sunshine here is amazing! It certainly makes you appreciate the good weather when you have it. The one thing I do enjoy about the rain is the fact that the clouds act like a big blanket and help to keep some of the warmth of the earth closer to home. When there are no clouds the temperature takes a nose dive because the heat takes a high flying adventure to the tip top of the skies. So, bundle up if you are having a sunny day in the middle of winter. It's going to be chilly.
With Liddy meowing around in hopes of extra food and attention, and Scientist doing dishes, it looks to be a day to relax and get some house cleaning in. As I haven't been home much this weekend, and when I have I've been mostly asleep, The house is looking a little worse for wear. I hope to remedy that soon. I'll vaccum, dust, pick up clutter, toss out trash and recycle, clean the bathroom, maybe try to get some laundry done, and do it all while blasting Christmas music. Then I plan on sitting down and wrapping as many of the Christmas presents as I can when no one is home. They will get stashed in my closet until this weekend when we decorate the house. After that it's off to put gas in Author's car and pick her up from the train station. I know she had a great weekend with family, and I'm glad she could do that before the holidays hit. Things are already starting to get a little batty around here. Thanksgiving is already just 4 days away, and we still have yet to decide what we are doing. Hopefully we will have that figured out by the end of tonight.
As for me, I'm just going crazy at work. We had a 500 guest count lunch for Thanksgiving yesterday, and boy howdy was it a mad house. Our menu was a roasted pork loin glazed with a blackberry chipotle sauce, caesar salad, bing cherry and pineapple salad, carrot craisin salad, a warm buttered roll, rice pilaf, seasoned green beans, and an apple blossom dessert. The dessert was wonderful. Slices of apple wrapped in pastry topped with oatmeal brown sugar crumble taste like apple pie. It was a yummy menu, but feeding 500 in the space of half an hour can get a little hectic. I was up at 6:00 am, and putting the pork in by 6:40. It was an early morning, and a long shift. But well worth it.
Then I headed to a baby shower for a friend and only stayed for a little while as I was so beat. I hope she enjoyed her gift. For baby showers everyone always gets baby stuff, and nothing but baby stuff. So, I make a point to always make a "mommy kit." It usually consists of a candle, bath gel, lotion, bubble bath, a perfume, chocolate, a bottle of sparkling cider, a perhaps a comfy throw blanket. Something that gives them an excuse to pamper themselves for a little while after baby is born, or perhaps a even before as well. This particular friend is allergic to scents, so I had to rethink my plan and get creative. Pilsbury cinnamon rolls, Hersey's chocolate bars, a sock monkey, and a soft blanket did the trick. Next time you are heading for a baby shower, don't forget to get a little something for mommy. They need it just after baby comes.
Well everyone, it's been fun, and I look forward to seeing you all soon. It's off to clean with me. May you all have a great day, and HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!!!!!
