Meowin' Around The House
As I haven't posted about our cat Liddy for a while I decided it was only fair to devote an entire post just to her. Granted, this is probably one of the few times I will post about her, let alone an entire post. But needless to say, this one's for you Liddy.
Liddy is our long haired black (or Scientist is determined she is brown but she must be so dark brown everyone thinks she's black) ball of fluff. Her unusual meow is a constant source of amusement for us all. With it's purring quality and her constant chattering with us, we all find that we worry when she is quiet. That typically means she's got something up her sleeve...or shall we say furry paw. ;) She has seems to have decided that we live for her entertainment and needs. Oh, and apparently she owns the house as well, including all of our beds.
You know how most cats seem to find the most comfortable place in the entire house and stake it out as theirs? Yeah, no, not Liddy. She hates anything to comfortable. thus she finds the most unusual places to be. In fact as of right now she is laying upside down on Scientist's lap. So between attacking each other and tormenting one another, Scientist and Liddy love each other more than anything else. Their story is quite amusing.
Originally, Liddy was a rescue my grandma picked up and adored. When she moved to the same town my family lived, she brought Liddy with her. Liddy was always a super shy cat that didn't take well to anyone other than my grandma. she tolerated me, but even then only to a certain extent. My grandma up and moved out of country, and no one knew for a while. Liddy was on the streets for that time, but always stuck close to home. I moved into my grandma's house sometime later, and took Liddy in. I can't tell you how many nights I spent re-domesticating that ball of fur. She was scared and like people even less than she did when grandma had her. Eventually the two of us came to an understanding. I was the one who wanted to help her, to feed her, spoil her, and help her back into being able to tolerate people. She decided that she liked me and was going to protect me all through the nights. So, she would sit on my chest or pillow, watch and wait for me to drift off to sleep. Then, and only then, would she lay down on my pillow or body and go to sleep. Oftentimes in the morning she would gently bat at my nose to wake me up, telling me it was time to get up and feed her. I think I spoiled her to much because it got to the point where she would only eat wet food. Unless I wasn't home for the day. Then, simply because she had no other choice, she would eat dry food. Sadly, when I moved again, I could not take her with me. So, I called Scientist. He came over and told me he couldn't take her...that is until she jumped in his lap and began to purr. Since then, the two have been inseparable. He won't go anywhere without her, and she won't wander off without him. They yell, and fight with each other like a married couple. We always know when Scientist is up because we hear a soft meow, a groan, another slightly louder meow, another slightly louder groan, and then a loud meow, and groan almost simultaneously. Next is the thud, thud of his feet hitting the floor, and the tumble grumble of him crawling out of bed while she meows about his feet. Then the door creaks open, and the two of them stumble out of the room.
They make quite the pair. I don't think either of them would quite know what to do without the other. And so ends our story of Liddy and Scientist, but I must say, I don't think it's one that will ever be forgotten by anyone who has met the two of them.
Goodnight bloggers!
